Solar-thermal energy conversion prediction of building envelope using thermochemical sorbent based on established reaction kinetics

Published in Energy Conversion and Management, 2021

In this paper, the dehydration (heat charge) and hydration (discharge) reaction kinetics of thermochemical sorbents synthesised in previous work by the author is established by using the isothermal method, with the aim of understanding their thermochemical conversion behaviour and developing reaction models for numerical simulations. The effects of temperature, reaction advancement, and vapour pressure are fully considered and employed in a thermochemical energy storage model.

A new structure of PCHE with embedded PCM for attenuating temperature fluctuations and its performance analysis

Published in Energy, 2022

To attenuate the temperature fluctuations in the cycle, this study proposes a new structure with phase change materials embedded in the printed circuit heat exchanger. This structure package can contain a variety of phase change materials in a stepwise arrangement and a composite phase change material with expanded graphene. The effects of different flow directions, the number of layers in the phase change material ladder, whether the phase change material is compounded with expanded graphene or not, and the thickness of the phase change material were numerically compared.

Effect of pressure on regenerative cooling process of endothermic hydrocarbon fuel at severe pyrolysis conditions

Published in Aerospace Science and Technology, 2023

In order to fill the gap in existing research on the pressure effects at severe pyrolysis, the influence of pressure on the flow field, pyrolysis behaviours, heat transfer, and surface coking are numerically investigated in this study. The results indicate that the velocity-temperature curves at different pressures have two intersections due to the difference in initial pyrolysis temperature, reaction rate, and product distribution.

Numerical Investigation on Flow Pattern, Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Characteristics of Flow Boiling with Discrete Heat Sources

Published in Heat Transfer Engineering, 2023

With the rapid growth of computing demand and the wide application of multichip devices, heat sources are distributed discretely in space. Therefore, the flow boiling in the mini-channel with two discrete heat sources is investigated in this study. The effects of heat source distribution, inlet fluid temperature and channel diameter on flow pattern, heat transfer and pressure drop are discussed in detail.

Numerical study on regenerative cooling technology with endothermic hydrocarbon fuel: A comprehensive review

Published in Journal of Cleaner Production, 2024

This paper summarizes the phenomena and challenges in regenerative cooling, including transcritical thermophysical properties, fuel pyrolysis, and surface coking. The corresponding numerical methods are classified according to their characteristics, including the fuel surrogate, pyrolysis, surface coking, and turbulence models. The scope of application and the advantages and disadvantages of the models are discussed.
